Christopher Bouwman (oboe) studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, under Ali Groen, Frank Minderaa and Han de Vries, continuing to a Masters degree. He later studied in Geneva under Maurice Bourgue. Mr. Bouwman has played concertos with the Bruckner Orchester Linz, and the Swedish Radio Symphony orchestras, and has been guest principal oboist with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Bavarian State Opera, the Frankfurt Opera, the Residentie orchestra of The Hague, and the Rotterdam Philharmonic. Prizewinner at the Barbirolli and Fernand-Gillet international competitions, he is principal oboe of the Valencia Opera Orchestra, where he has worked under Lorin Maazel and Zubin Mehta.
