Born in 1981 in Tossa de Mar (Costa Brava), he started his musical education at the age of 6 with Dolors Brufau Paris. She introduced him to piano and violin playing as well as the musical theory and solfege.
Few years later he was accepted in the “Conservatori de la Diputació de Girona” with Maria Victoria Fernandez where he obtained the “Professional Diploma” of violin. Gonçal Comellas became his next teacher when he moved to Barcelona to study in the “Conservatori del Liceu” in that city. There, he graduated in violin and chamber music.
Afterwards he moved to The Netherlands where he obtained a Bachelor in Music at the Conservatory of Utrecht under the guidance of Chris Duindam and Liz Perry. After the advices and lessons of Kees Hulsmann, he gave his final master’s recital in 2008. At the same time he discovered baroque violin following regular lessons by Antoinette Lohmann and playing in many baroque ensembles around the Low Countries.
Carles played in many orchestras such as “JONC” (National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia), “JONDE” (National Youth Orchestra of Spain), “Orquestra Goncal Comellas, “Terrassa 48”, ”Orquestra de Cadaques”, “Magogo Kamerorkest. “Camerata Ardesko”, “Rotterdam Kamerorkest”, “Orquestra i ensemble Athenea” …
He received violin master classes from Anna Baget, Isabel Vilà, Boris Belkin, Philip Naegele, Natalia Gabunia, Indira Koch, Corrado Bolsi, and chamber music advices from Quartet Casals, Utrecht String quartet, Timora Rosler, Alan Weiss, Trio di Parma, Storioni Trio…
He has a violin, made by Giuseppe Fiorini (1930) in Zurich on loan from the collection of The Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation.
